We have some exciting things going on at Zalma R5. We can't wait to see everyone at Open House on August 19th and then welcome all of our students back on August 21st. We have new programs for our students and we have made positive changes to our campus.
We have some new faces to welcome to our district along with some familiar faces in new places. First off, we have
MS. Paige Schulte teaching junior high and high school Math this year. MS. Schulte has taught for several years and we are happy to have her.
Mrs. Melena Clark is joining our elementary staff and is our new 4th grade teacher. Mrs. Clark is a graduate of Zalma R5 and we always enjoy bringing our former students back to teach with us.
The legend returns! Mr. Dwyght Ford is returning to Zalma R5 to head up our new AG and Shop Program. Coach Ford is teaching AG and Shop classes as well as Coaching HS Basketball and JH/HS Track for us. This is a great program for our students.
When you come on campus, you will see some changes. Campus is closed from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM each day. The gate will remain closed and all visitors will be required to check in at the main office as soon as arriving on campus. As you drive onto our campus, you will park in one of the spaces before crossing through the covered crosswalk, currently the high school parent pick up parking area. Walk up the stairs and into the doors as if you are going to the cafeteria. This is our check-in area. Please come to the window. This makes our campus much more secure and better enables us to keep our students safe.

The Zalma R5 School District is going strong. We are adding some key programs next year and we are excited about the future of our school. We have great success with our Cross Country and Track programs each year. We had a state contender in Cross Country this year and expect to have more headed to the state tournament in Track and Field in the coming weeks.
We have and will continue to have junior high and high school volleyball along with junior high and high school basketball. We got our baseball team back this year and expect that to continue with the strong interest we have at the junior high level. We are adding junior high cross country and track next year as well as pairing with the Bollinger County 4H program to add archery, target shooting, and other amazing opportunities for our students.
We are taking big strides and expect to continue to grow our extra curricular programs over the next several years while boasting one of the higher APRs in the area. Zalma R5 will not only keep moving forward as a great school, we will continue finding ways to grow our programs and become even better!

Library books must be returned by Friday, May 9th. Late fees and replacement fees will be placed on student accounts for books not returned.
